Information we collect
Account information, such as your name, email address, login method, language preference, and basic settings.
Profile and goal information, such as age, height, weight, activity level, target goal, preferred units, calorie targets, macro targets, and progress history.
Meal information you choose to add, including typed descriptions, voice inputs when you use voice logging, generated transcriptions, parsed food items, calories, macros, meal times, notes, edits, favorites, and relogged meals.
Purchase and subscription information if you subscribe to CalorieTalk Pro, such as subscription status, plan type, and related purchase history needed to unlock and manage Pro features.
App and device information, such as device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, diagnostics, approximate region, notification tokens, and usage events needed to keep the service reliable.
Support information, such as messages you send us, screenshots or details you choose to provide, and the contact details needed to reply.
Voice and audio
Voice inputs may be processed to generate a text transcription and food log. We do not use voice inputs to identify you by voice, and we do not sell voice data.
CalorieTalk does not save raw voice recordings to your meal log after processing. Audio may be temporarily processed to complete your request, and may be handled by AI or infrastructure providers needed to operate the feature.
If we ever need a recording for debugging, training review, or support investigation, we will only use it when you choose to provide it or consent to that use.
How we use information
We use your information to provide CalorieTalk, understand meal descriptions, create editable food logs, calculate estimated calories and macros, update daily progress, show history, support streaks, and personalize your experience.
We also use information to maintain accounts, secure the service, troubleshoot issues, answer support requests, improve product quality, and send service messages such as account, security, or product updates.
We may use de-identified or aggregated data to improve reliability, nutrition matching, product quality, and performance. This data is not intended to identify you.
If notifications are enabled, we use notification tokens and preferences to send reminders or app updates you have allowed. You can control these in your device settings.
AI and nutrition estimates
When you log a meal by text or voice, CalorieTalk sends only that meal text or voice note (and its transcription) to Google Gemini, a third-party AI service, so the app can separate foods, estimate portions, and present editable nutrition results. Nothing else from your account is sent to Gemini for that processing.
Nutrition values may be incomplete or inaccurate because of user input, AI interpretation, database differences, portion estimation, food brands, cooking methods, and preparation differences.
Calories, macros, targets, and progress are estimates. They are not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and should not be used for emergency health decisions.
You should review results before relying on them, especially if you have allergies, medical conditions, dietary restrictions, or a plan given by a healthcare professional.
Service providers and third parties
We do not sell your personal information.
We may use cloud authentication, database, and hosting providers; Google Gemini for AI meal understanding of the meal text or voice you choose to log; FatSecret for food and nutrition data; a transactional email provider for support or account-related email; a product-analytics provider linked to your account identifier; a crash and diagnostic reporting provider; a subscription-management provider for purchase and subscription status; Meta (Facebook) for App Promotion install and activation measurement on device; and notification and app infrastructure providers, along with Apple or Google where applicable for notifications, app distribution, sign-in, and platform services.
If you subscribe, the subscription-management provider may send subscription lifecycle events to Meta so we can measure whether ads led to a purchase. Those purchase events are not logged from the Meta SDK in the app. On iOS we may ask for App Tracking Transparency permission to use the advertising identifier for that measurement. If you decline, CalorieTalk still works.
These providers process information only as needed to run CalorieTalk, provide app features, protect the service, comply with platform requirements, or support users.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate abuse, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Purchases and subscriptions
If you subscribe to CalorieTalk Pro, we collect purchase and subscription history data needed to confirm your entitlement, restore purchases, and manage Pro access.
Payment card details are processed by Apple or Google through the app stores. We do not receive or store your full payment card number.
Storage, retention, and deletion
We keep account, profile, meal, and progress data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.
You can initiate account deletion inside the app from Profile → Delete account. You can also use the website deletion page at /delete-account or contact support.
Deletion removes or de-identifies account data that is no longer needed. Some records may be kept for a limited time when required for security, legal compliance, backup recovery, fraud prevention, or dispute handling.
If the app stores temporary data on your device, uninstalling the app or clearing local storage may remove that local copy, but it may not delete server-side account data.
Emails and communications
You can opt out of marketing emails if we send them. Service emails, such as account, security, privacy, support, and transaction messages, may still be sent when needed to operate the service.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so you should use a strong password and keep your device protected.
Children
CalorieTalk is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
International use
Your information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live. When that happens, we use safeguards appropriate to the service and applicable law.
Changes and contact
We may update this Privacy Policy as CalorieTalk develops. If a change is important, we will take reasonable steps to make it visible in the app or on the website.
For privacy questions or requests, contact support@calorietalkapp.com.
